Our Expertise
STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY
Structural geology is a specialized field involving the study of the deformation of rocks by way of faulting, folding, and jointing, both on a regional and local scale. Numerous mineral deposit types are intricately linked to particular tectonic settings and structural events.
ECONOMIC GEOLOGY
Economic geology is the branch of geology which concentrates on the style, formation, geological setting, controls, lithologies, alteration, and metamorphism to ascertain the economic potential of naturally occurring minerals and metals concentrations.
Experience
Our experience includes stratiform sediment hosted base metal deposits, placer and orogenic gold deposit, porphyry copper-gold deposits, skarn deposits, PGE and chromite igneous complexes, ionic REE, VMS, diamonds, carbonatite hosted phosphate and REE, LCT pegmatites, placer, redox and igneous uranium mineralization, antimony, andalusite, limestone, coal, cement, silica and aggregates.
EXPLORATION AND TARGET GENERATION
Exploration geology focuses on delineating economic concentrations of minerals and precious and base metal deposits. Exploration geologists are skilled in several geoscientific techniques, such as mapping, stream sediment, trench, core and chip sampling, drill hole planning and supervision, core/chip logging, incorporating information related to geophysical surveys, remote sensing/ multispectral analyses, assaying, mineralogical and metallurgical data.
Quality Assurance
Data quality assurance and control are paramount to a successful exploration program and the use of the data in the reporting of exploration targets and Mineral Resources in line with the JORC, SAMREC, CRIRSCO and CIM reporting codes.
PRODUCTION / MINE GEOLOGY
Production geologists focus on the efficient and economic development and extraction of ore bodies at operating mines and quarries. Mine geologists focus on geological modelling, short and long term exploration, drilling, unbiased sampling, grade control, and production planning. Cumulatively we have over 20 years as mine geologists on both deep level and shallow underground mines.
PROSPECTIVITY ANALYSIS
Prospectivity analysis is essentially applied economic geology and involves delineating geological terrains prospective for various deposit types. It focuses on analysis of a variety of geological data sets, academic papers, historical exploration data, interpretation of geochemical surveys, remote sensing, amongst other information sources.
MINERAL RESOURCE ESTIMATION & REPORTING
A Mineral Resource is defined as “a concentration or occurrence of solid material of economic interest in or on the Earth’s crust in such form, grade or quality and quantity that there are reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction.
Other Prospects
A&B Global Xplore have undertaken the modelling of accurate and robust geostatistical estimates across a range of minerals, metals and non-metals, and deposit styles. Fundamental to preparing a Mineral Resource is the establishment of whether ithas reasonable prospects of eventual economic extraction (RPEEE).
EXPLORATION RESULTS
An Exploration Results include data and information generated by mineral exploration programs that might be of use to investors, but which do not form part of a declaration of Mineral Resources or Mineral Reserves (SAMREC, 2016).
Exploration Target
An Exploration Target is a statement or estimate of the exploration potential of a mineral deposit in a defined geological setting relates to mineralization for which there has been insufficient exploration to estimate a Mineral Resource (JORC, 2012). Exploration Results are conceptual and do not “part of a formal declaration of Mineral Resources or Mineral Reserves” (SAMREC, 2016).
DUE DILIGENCES
A feature of the mining industry is investing in or the acquisition of mineral and mining assets. These transactions have a significant price tag attached and therefore a thorough review of the geology and Mineral Resources is critical.
AUDITS
An independent review of the geological data and models, and the Mineral Resource of exploration or mining company is industry best practice. Audits facilitate the identification of risks and opportunities, provide investor confidence, and offer the opportunity to upskill technical staff.
TECHNICAL REPORTING
Technical reports are prepared by Competent and Qualified Persons by applying the definitions, standards, guidelines, and requirements of international Mineral Resource and Reserve reporting codes. For example, JORC Competent Person Report (CPR) and Table 1, CIM’s National Instrument Form 43-101, USA’s Regulation S-K 1300, and SAMREC CPR.
Technical Report
The contents of a technical report and Table 1 of the JORC Code must provide a balanced and transparent account of the technical information such that mining companies and investors have a clear and informed understanding of a project. Technical reports required for the public reporting of listed exploration and mining
companies.
TECHNO ECONOMIC STUDIES
Techno economic studies are divided into three categories. The initial study is known as a Scoping Study or Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA). A Scoping Study is an order of magnitude technical and economic study of the potential viability of Mineral Resources that includes appropriate assessments of realistically assumed Modifying Factors together with any other relevant operational factors that are necessary to demonstrate at the time of reporting that progress to a Pre-Feasibility Study can be reasonably justified” (SAMREC, 2016).
The Other Two Studies
A Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) includes an economic analysis of the potential viability of Mineral Resources and is “considered too speculative geologically to have the economic considerations applied to them that would enable them to be categorized as Mineral Reserves, and there is no certainty that the preliminary economic assessment will be realized” (CIM, 2011).
Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility studies are based on “increasing levels of economic and technical assessment with increasing levels of confidence for the project design, scheduling, costs and risks; to justify progression of the project to the next investment level” (SAMREC, 2016).
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES – INTERNAL CONTROLS
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) / internal controls are a step-by-step list of activities and checks that are routinely undertaken. SOPs ensure the activity is undertaken in accordance with industry best practice, and a company’s preferred methodology, and safeguard quality assurance and quality control. SOPs cover all activities a geologist performs from exploration projects to producing mines.
With an ambitious vision and robust foundation, AB Global Xplore is poised to pave the way for sustainable resource exploration, geological and Mineral Resource modelling, reporting and management.
